Lagoon monitoring with radar sensor

Case study – Water height measurements and flow rate on treatment lagoons

Autonomous radar sensor solution level/flow and display

LNR06V4 water flow radar sensor connected to a display

CONTEXT :

Lagoon monitoring in the context of a call for tender, a water height/flow measurement sensors is required.

  • A specific request for a display is also required. This display has a push button allowing instant measurement
  • 12 treatment lagoons to be equipped
  • The instrumentation solution must be autonomous in energy
  • Sensors must send their data automatically to the client server/SCADA
  • The ease of use and quick installation required

LA SOLUTION :

The example of a simple and autonomous installation of innovative instrumentation for Lagoon monitoring.

Radar sensor-based solutions (LNR06V4-82-LTE) + wired display (F0D00020):

  • Battery powered water level sensors, internal battery with battery indicator integrated into the sensor. Change of battery and Sim card done on-site by the client.
  • Integrated recorder with a capacity of 500,000 measures. Wireless radio setting using a USB/radio dongle kit named “Wiji”).
  • Sensor equipped with a 2G/4G LTE modem. User-integrated and interchangeable communication card without factory return.
  • The display is directly powered by the radar probe, and displays the values on demand via a push button located below the housing.
  • Measurement of water level by radar placed on a Venturi channel. The level sensor has a conversion table to be filled.
  • Possibility to start a water sampler program via a connection from the water level sensor connector.
  • Solar panel powering is also possible, as well as the connection of a rain gauge to the radar sensor

The integrated radar level sensors are autonomous and communicate locally by radio and at a distance in 2G/4G. Electromagnetic in nature, the radar wave is not affected by particular exposures (wind, temperature variations).
